Glenn Russo

Glenn Russo – I work with Restoring Choice – a direct application of Nonviolent Communication, drawn from Miki Kashtan’s Restoring Choice Using NVC learning packet, from Marshall Rosenberg’s work, and from the Pathways to Liberation self-assessment matrix.

The practice builds five capacities: interrupting the automatic negative story we tell about people (overcoming enemy images), making clear doable requests, saying no when it isn’t a full yes, receiving a no without something getting damaged, and letting go of a strategy without letting go of the need. Presence underlies all of it.

My interest is in what makes a community of people living or working together sustainable over decades: where people enjoy being there, conflict is low, and the conflict that does arise is handled in ways people value. I think these capacities may be what makes that possible.

I’ve been practising NVC for over 13 years, and my partner and I co-facilitated a fortnightly NVC practice group in Castlemaine for seven years. For the last seven years I’ve been part of Miki Kashtan’s Responding to the Call of Our Times nonviolent leadership programme. Five years ago I moved to three days a week in my job to give more time to this work.

I’m not a CNVC certified trainer. What I offer is currently free – introductory sessions, a practice group, and a residency at our property near Castlemaine – because what I’m looking for is people who want to build capacity seriously and work on this together.

Based near Castlemaine, central Victoria. Online and in person.
